This Castle Hotel is nestled on 1,000 acres of undulating Irish countryside, dotted with ancient woodland and glittering lakes, Castle Leslie Estate Monaghan is one of the last great Irish Castle estates still in the hands of its founding family.  Since the 1660s, the distinguished and somewhat individual Leslie family has lived on the Castle Estate, welcoming everyone from politicians to poets, ambassadors to ufologists. 

Now you too can experience some of the most unique and enchanting castle accommodation in Ireland.  Following significant investment and a major restoration programme over the last decade, the beautiful Castle Estate is waiting to be discovered.  Located in Co. Monaghan, Ireland, the Estate is only 80 minutes from Dublin and 60 minutes from Belfast.   Full of character and personality, it’s the ultimate Irish rural escape and boasts a variety of accommodation and activities to suit all tastes. A truly private and stunningly beautiful estate, it is a magical setting for your special event or wedding celebration.

The Castle, at the heart of the Estate, offers authentic original interiors and old-style hospitality and is a complete respite from the world.  The Lodge is the social hub of the Estate and brings locals and guests together in an atmosphere of conviviality and comfort.  The Old Stable Mews is the perfect spot for groups that want the convenience of hotel living combined with private self catering.

The Estate offers an idyllic setting for outdoor activity and adventure.  It’s the perfect place to discover the thrill of exploring the countryside on horseback or foot.  You can spend a few hours fishing on one of Ireland's best-preserved lakes.  Alternatively, you might prefer to enjoy a massage in the Victorian Treatment Rooms at the end of an activity packed day or relax with a book in one of our many beautiful rooms.

THE OLD STABLE MEWS

Set within a picturesque cut-stone courtyard in a quiet corner of the Estate surrounded by ancient woodlands, The Old Stable Mews is a rare blend of contemporary elegance and Victorian craftsmanship.  An old coachhouse which has been fully restored and refurbished, the Old Stable Mews offers twelve wonderful two-bedroomed Mews equipped with every modern comfort.  It is the ideal setting for families, friends and small groups on activity breaks. 

With a fully equipped conference room and breakout rooms, it is also a unique alternative to more conventional conference venues.

Guests can choose to cater for themselves, dine in one of the restaurants (closed seasonally) on the Estate or enjoy freshly prepared gourmet meals in the privacy of their own private Mews.  We can also take the stress out of self-catering by supplying welcome or breakfast baskets (filled with delicious fresh food) or stocking your fridge with all the provisions you need for your stay.

We know that many of you like to bring your dogs on holiday with you.  They deserve a break as much as you do!  Many of the Old Stable Mews are suitable for dogs and with its acres of space, secluded paths and forestry trails, the Estate is ideal for dogs.  It’s full of exciting smells and new territory to explore.  You'll find open hillside, rivers, farmland, forests and mountains right on your doorstep, so there's no shortage of walks.

THE VILLAGE COTTAGES

Built in 2006 around a village square and green, these four and five bedroomed self catering cottages with slate roofs, sliding sash windows, open fires, cut limestone and salvage brick, are charming and timeless.  Located in the original cut-stone village of Glaslough, the twelve beautiful 4-star Village Cottages are a seamless extension to the village and are ideal for large groups or families seeking self-catering accommodation.  Classically proportioned and boasting nine-foot ceilings, each cottage is beautifully and individually decorated.  Catering for up to 8 - 10 people, you can enjoy comfortable spacious living with an open fire, TV, DVD and stereo music player.

The open-plan modern kitchen is equipped with everything you need to whip up the grandest of meals.  The five bedroomed cottages comprise of three double bedrooms with en-suite, one double and one twin with shared bathroom.  The four bedroomed cottages comprise of two double bedrooms with en-suite, one double and one twin with shared bathroom.  Both house types have one bathroom downstairs and one main bathroom upstairs with bath.  Bed linen and towels are included.

Located in the centre of the village, only a stones throw away from the Equestrian Centre, the Cookery School and the Victorian Treatment Rooms, the Village Cottages offer guests independence with the option to avail of all the Estate has to offer.

Castle Leslie Estate offers a wide variety of activities, both on and off the Estate, to satisfy guests’ every desire.  So whether you’re looking for an energetic, action packed break or a reviving, relaxing get-away, Castle Leslie Estate has it all.

On the Castle Leslie Estate:

•Explore the 1,000 acre Estate on horse back.  As one of Europe’s finest equestrian playgrounds, the Estate comprises 21 miles of meandering bridleway for riding enthusiasts of all levels.  Whether you’re a novice or an experienced rider looking for the thrill of fast-paced exhilarating cross-country rides, Castle Leslie Estate is the place for you.  With over 300 jumps for more experienced riders, first timers can try the virtual horse before tackling the real thing.
•Partake in some of the best pike fishing in Europe on the picturesque lake.
•Relax in the organic Victorian Treatment Rooms complete with Victorian steam boxes and outdoor hot tub.
•Take in a private movie screening at our cinema in the Castle.
•Breathe in the fresh country air and take in the stunning scenery as you stroll around in the woods or by the lakes.  There are a whole host of exceptional walks, from short jaunts to long leisurely strolls, on the Estate, in the village of Glaslough and in the local area.
•Enjoy the thrill of hawkwalking (by pre-arrangement only).
* An Equine Playground and working farm, Castle Leslie Estate is not a suitable environment for bicycles.  However the Ulster Canal Cycle Trail passes through Glaslough village and guests are welcome to follow the route and take in the scenery in the surrounding area.  Please ask at reception for more information.

The Estate is closed seasonally until the 3^rd February 2011.

From the 3^rd February until 30^th March 2012 -the Restaurant will only be open at weekends.

From the 30^th March until 3^rd November 2012 the estate will be fully open.

From the 4^th November until 31^st December 2012 -the Restaurant will only be open at weekends.
