The Gordon Bennett classic car run is in the lead, however it is closely followed by it's counterpart The Gordon Bennett International Rally which races off between 8th – 10th June 2012 and is in association with the Irish Veteran and Vintage Car Club or the IVVCC and Mercedes Benz.
All the vehicles taking part in the rally will be pre 1930 vintage, veteran or antique models and is a celebration of the first 1930 Gordon Bennett Cup Race, which encompassed the Laois, Kildare and Carlow areas. The Gordon Bennett International Rally will commence in Tullow, Co Carlow and will see a range of over 200 cars take to the roads in flamboyant style as did the American playboy Gordon Bennett, who pioneered the route many years previously. They say that the Carlow route really is the heart of Ireland so be prepared to be swept away by the astonishing views of rolling mountain ranges and quaint little villages that will surely pop up to greet you on your travels.
